The nexus 7 screen just felt so small and cramped that I was just not happy with it. Otherwise it was pretty much perfect.
I am going to head to bestbuy in an hour or so, maybe I will hit the apple store next door to ask a few questions about Google apps and Google music on the mini.
I do not believe that Google Music or any Play services will be available on iOS, I don't think Apple would allow that if they have any chance of stopping it.
It sounds like you should have an easy decision, if your all about Google, an Android tablet is the way to go, nothing offers better synergy between Google services and the hardware.
That being said, I have a Nexus 10 and I love it, it's pure Google, very responsive, and the screen is gorgeous. There's some decent accessories as well now. You'll get the latest updates first as well and the price for a 32gb version is competitive as well. The only reason to get an iPad is if you're tied into Apple's ecosystem and it sounds like you are not a fan of iTunes so I'm not sure why you would want to do that, other than that and a current lead in app selection is the only reasons I would think of getting an iPad over an Android tablet in your scenario.
