Or do you mean that you were unfairly upgraded by this trick, but the GA discovered it and fixed the situation for a higher level elite who should have received the upgrade instead of you?
Don't know. I was #1 on the UG list all day (outside of that incident UG, have been 100% out of PVD). I got the paper boarding pass with seat 1B when I checked my bag. Was reissued a bp at the gate and apologized to by GA and FA and given free drinks and food for the whole of the flight but no explanation, except for a vague "equipment issues".
I am pretty sure I lost a legit UG that day.
