Can't imagine that this would work, as NZ has its own proprietary booking system. Still suggest ringing UA and find out what the UA PNR (I assume such would exist on UA's system) is for your booking (which you could then input into united.com).

No, sadly (unless you got a very helpful check-in agent), I suspect they won't check bags through on separate PNRs. You only have to drag the bags from T2 to 'A' bus to T7, which is a bit of a hassle, but not too much.
