The vast majority of attendees will come from the East Coast, DC to Portland, and drive their own cars. Some are already planning to carpool and we plan to set up a matching service.
If it's a small group where people know each other, could you facilitate car pooling from the airports?
That is one option, but may not work for the international participants who will come from among other places, Netherlands, Poland, Ireland, Nigeria, Japan, United Arab Emirates, etc and arrive at different times. Problem is we are somewhat afraid of liability issues if we (yeah, I know I am keeping it somewhat vague, but given your username, think academic conference) arrange some of the transportation and hiring a shuttle bus is prohibitively expensive - on the magnitude or $1000 for a small number of travelers.
