It's sooo 1980's, in fact I did have a hissy fit with MrD several decades ago over a pony tail....I cut it off whilst he snoozed in front of the TV.
Although at first he complained when presented with offending article he had to admit it wasn't pleasant !

I can imagine taking my nail scissors to some of the skankier male ponytails out there......
I have form for it !
