The most recent check was in April 2013. I do not recall any special event in Germany. If they are drug controls, they should check the luggage with dogs. The drugs themselves do not carry an ID. if they are looking for somebody, they can recognize him and they do not have to ask for everyone's ID. if this happens to me in the future, I will ask for the purpose of the checks.
