Thanks for the thoroughness of the review, JDiver. This really is damning with faint praise - not that I question the veracity: my bad Italian hotel experiences have run the full scale 1* to 5*. One could hope that a new build might avoid some of the unfortunate compromises commonly found. Locating, building (and staffing) to a price point appears to dampen the routine HGI virtues.
