Thanks for the comprehensive review and sorry for your experience.

I was going to stay here prior to a cruise in October but when the spectre of HHonors points devaluation surfaced earlier this year, I cashed in a bunch for a room at the Stucky. Now I'm glad I did.

UPDATE: By virtue of evolving trip plans, we ended up staying a night at this hotel at the end of our vacation (still stayed at the Molino Stucky).

I was okay with the stay at HGI. We were picked up at the Mestre train station by the hotel van and promptly conveyed to the property. Assigned a room on the 4th floor which smelled strongly of cigarette smoke. Went back to the front desk, many apologies and given keys to a different room on 4 which turned out to be fine.

The only other substantive comment is that prices are very high in the restaurant. Food is good but portions are borderline small. We spent more for dinner here (88 euros) than any other place we went to during our vacation - and we visited some fine restaurants in Rome and Paris.
