Call GS and tell them to oversell the next available flight for you. This is a published GS benefit. If there is an earlier flight, you should be able to get on it, regardless of availability.
Another very good option, you may need to get a supervisor but they will do it. Personally I would call the non toll free GS number for DTW office since this has been a long standing GS benefit. Note that they will only oversell Y even if you are in paid J/F.
