I have a reservation at the GH Taipei in August and just received an email from the manager telling me that the hotel will now be closed for renovations during the time that I have a reservation.
It is a nice email, but nothing offered to me other than a free upgrade on a future stay at the property after the renovations are complete. That doesn't help me as I have no plans to be back in Taipei.
Does anyone have experience with this type of situation? Should the GH help me find accommodations elsewhere? Offer something else?

That is strange... to the best of my knowledge, they closed one tower for renovation while the other tower is in operation; and from what has been written, the renovated tower goes live sometime this month and they will close and renovate the other half.
