Thanks for all the replies. To get to LGW for the 7.00 am flight would mean getting the 4.05 train from Blackfriars. As they live in New Cross there is no way to get there at that time. They could get a taxi to Blackfriars and then the train but that would probably cost them about £40. Their argument is why should they be out of pocket - either for the additional travel or hotel at LGW.
