First time I flew they made me weigh my gand luggage which was 9kg and made me repack - bit difficult when all I had was stuff for flight, laptop and exam scriptsto mark (which are probably the only genuinely irreplaceable thing)*. Now I carry laptop separately and have never had problem even when I was blue.

*got my "revenge" by buying a load of heavy magazines!
