For most flights I'm not too picky unless I'm flying at sunrise or sunset. Then depending on whether or not I feel like watching it or sleeping will be a factor. Also, if I want to see something specific on takeoff or landing and feel confident in the wind patterns then I will select a certain side. I prefer the left side going in and out of HNL, for example.
And on wide-bodies I like sitting on the right side. I guess it's because I don't get to fly the, too often so when I do I like crossing the aisle to the other side of the plane. Sounds pretty silly probably but it's not something you get to do on every plane.

Depends. I usually sleep on my left side, which does mean I'd want a seat on the left side of the plane if that was a factor.
