I did a cancellation of a "standard award stay" to the tune of 40,000 points a week or two back, about 5 days prior to the reservation date. The points did not redeposit. I called HH and they told me they may take 4 days to redeposit. After 4 days they did not redeposit so I called HH back. This time HH told me that it may take 2 weeks (??). I told them I wanted to open a case immediately; they agreed to do so. I noticed the points are back in my account today, but I have not received any communication from HH regarding this matter.
