Go to pda.continental.com and change to text option. Go into the online check-in process and check your seat there - if it still shows --- then click the --- which should be a link and go into the seatmap and re-select your original seat and complete the check-in process again.

I went ahead and had a look on the mobile site as suggested.
The mobile site correctly lists me in my previously reserved seat. (i.e. no "---")
So I took screen shots and left it alone. I was afraid to click on my seat assignment, because I was not sure what would happen.
I went back to the ual.com website. On the ual.com website, the seatmap still shows "---".
So I guess I'm less concerned, but only by about 1%.
