I have twice now been accused of not being legitimate: the last time someone said I was a teenager using my parents' money.
It always surprises me how people jump to conclusions. I was offered my Cent card when they first came out in the UK having been a platinum member for a number of years and having done a fair bit of travelling. My average spend at the time was about £2000 a month and I when I got the card (plastic, not titanium) it had 'charter member' on it. I don't think they were that difficult to get in the UK when launched and I think it was based more on brand loyalty than spend.
My HH Diamond card was a result of the Centurion card: 3 years ago I got a letter from Hilton saying they had made a marketing mistake with Amex customers and they were therefore honering me a diamond card for three years (expired March this year). To this day, I have no idea what the marketing mistake was or why I got the letter but this March they renewed my diamond card for another year so I decided to make use of it.
