Our connection in DOH was only 45 minutes and we landed 15 minutes after boarding commenced! Luckily our group was met upon deplaning and after a security screening we went to the boarding gate. Our fears came true – there were only 4 J seats left. We pulled straws and I was one of the lucky ones 

Our bird for the journey home was the 77W. I love this plane. Quite frankly, it is my favourite. I really cannot tell you why, but I guess sitting in the front also helps!

The flight was very bumpy, but the awesome service made up for that. Landing, immigration and customs were a breeze and I arrived refreshed.
I fell madly in love with this airline and I will certainly not mind paying for J class in future. Their prices are also very competitive. JNB-LON-JNB, for instance is about $ 3 000 on QR versus $ 4500 on SA, BA or VS. The only thing that was missing was wi-fi on the aircraft. This is becoming a norm on other airlines, not the exception.

Another observation was how long before touchdown the FA’s were ordered to take their seats. A good 20-30 minutes! This happened on all flights.
I certainly had an amazing experience and with QR joining 1W in 2014, I can see the benefits growing…
