If you're entitled to have it allocated to you, BA will allocate it to you, getting around the MMB bug. Then you can just OLCI or check-in at your convenience.
I'm not aware of any reports that suggest that if you're not entitled to have seat pre-allocation at that stage, BA will nevertheless "hold" it for you to prevent others grabbing it before OLCI opens.
Yes we do all day long. If you have a medical condition we take that seat. If we need that seat it will be taken and "put on hold". If a Gold Member or higher wants that seat we will take that seat. To the point we can call the airport and "have it put on hold." Trying to help the questions- if you want the answers.
