If you meet the cancellation policy, then yes your points will be redeposited back into your hhonors account.
The best way to make sure this is done correctly is to call HHONORS to have them cancel the reservation and the reward at the same time.
If you call the hotel, they will cancel the reservation, but not the reward (so no redeposit--which you can get corrected, but it takes longer and is not immediate).
If you cancel it online, maybe it will be cancelled correctly and maybe it won't.
So calling is better.
