I'll hit my first million miles this fall after flying about 35,000 miles since January 1. So, that will give me lifetime Gold status. My question is whether all of the 35,000 miles will count toward Platinum status, or if only 10,000 miles will count toward Platinum status. If I were not going to hit Gold via the million miler award, then only the 10,000 beyond yearly Gold would go toward Platinum.

One thing about AA is they have so many numbers to track, it can throw you, if you think too much about them (BIS, EQM, EQP, EQS, RDM, MM, and I'm sure I missed a few). But to answer your question, your 35,000 BIS miles will count towards your MM status and your elite status regardless of hitting LTGold.
