Post Big Box on UA - bag fee questions

Hello to the resident UA experts. I understand that UA has tightened all issues bag related and seem to be collecting a lot more fees than before, perhaps this is true to all carriers.

Im trying to evaluate my options on having a 1K member bring down a box that is 60 pounds heavy, and measures 40 x 27 x 6 inches.

By the book, and assuming that a 1K has only 1 (one) other checked bag that is fully legal and within the limits, what do you the experts thing that is the most probable outcome at the check-in counter...?

BTW, the itin would be West Coast to NYC then connection down to EZE.

Cheers,
