I can confirm Land-of-Miles' posting matches my own experience, though I have heard of jokers not being honoured if one other joker is on the flight (though I imagine that was an error).

At a BA do for high end customers over a year ago, we were told approx 70,000 Golds, 2,000 GGLs, under 500 CCRs. I think they said about 800 Prems, but some of them only fly once a year. I think BA in the round regard GGL as high value (otherwise why the wining and dining?), it is also true that with so many of them it is not reasonable to think that any one GGL as having a fundamental bearing on BA's customer service. The largest customer group - UK public sector employees in their varying forms (MOD, BBC, FCO, NHS, DfID, Commonwealth etc) - only represents a low percentage of turnover.
