Don't rent a "luxury" car from Avis if you are from Europe, you are only going to be disappointed. It'll likely be a Lincoln, a Cadillac or a high end Chrysler. All of which are pretty terrible. My advice would be rent a regular car and then pick one of the 'upgrade' options at the airport and get yourself into a BMW 528i or something similar.
