It would depend upon the circumstances. However, the easy answer is yes CBP has the authority to seize electronic equipment for examination. This is currently the lay of the land so to speak. As is always the case, as cases work their way through the legal system policy can change. This is true in this topic as there are cases pending that may change policy.
