I got upgraded to J on my 14th anniversary too yesterday. The J cabin was very empty on my flight to PVG. Will see if I'd get the same for my return flight tomorrow.
On my 12th, my wife and I got the upgrade both ways on a trip to BKK. She was not even a member.
I got the upgrade too on the return trip. This time J was full and I believe they op-up'ed someone to F so that I got my seat in J. Very nice, CX!
