Let me explain more than the picture does on its own. I bought two Bacon Whopper w Cheese meals at a "whopping" price of y48/each (that's almost $9, guys) this morning at Beijing South Stn, and the buns on both of them managed to crumble into small fragments after only two bites. BK in Shanghai also has a reputation for using sub par bread, but this was simply unreal. I posted the above picture on my weixin, and based on the comments it received, I gather that my experience was hardly unique.
Might have to do with Chinese have little use for cooking with oven.
Probably buns frozen, then microwaved.
