I think the easiest luxury American car you can get at LAX is a Lincoln Towncar. I usually get those automatically as an upgrade from full size. I used to ask for and receive Cadillac's back when those were the best that Avis had. But now I usually shoot for a BMW or a nice SUV if I need one. I did take a black Towncar earlier this year and it was excellent. But beware if you haven't driven a very large car like this before. It's like driving a boat. I grew up driving these types of cars so I like it.
The "original" Towncar (Panther platform, similar to the Crown Vic & Grand Marquis) seems to be a dying breed at Avis. I too enjoyed the big car feel (just like the DTS) but haven't seen any in over 2 months. They are replaced by the "MKT Towncar" which is a totally different animal (better almost all the way around), but it's still
NOT a ginormous sedan if that's what you're looking for.
