The Asian firm that owns the real estate recently purchased Rosewood Hotels. Pretty natural fit that they transfer management to the firm they also own. I wouldn't call it grasping at straws
Ah, I did not know that. It sounds like they are trying to build a global luxury brand. Rosewood owns the Mansion on Turtle Creek in Dallas, which is one of the top top hotels in the USA, boutique though, I think they have 24 or 26 rooms or something like that.
