This time of year is brutal in China. April in Shanghai was particularly tough because the weather fluctuated between really hot and really cold in 1-3 day spurts. I ended up wearing sweaters on boiling days and polo shirts on sub 10 degree days. Furthermore, the climate control people in our office couldn't keep up with things either.

Meanwhile, everyone in Beijing seems to be in denial that summer really has arrived in the practical sense. Taxis absolutely refuse to use their aircons (well, they claim that they are broken, of course), and the hotel I'm staying in tried to make the same argument... it turned out that my aircon was not broken; they just hadn't bothered to turn on the HVAC (fortunately, they solved this problem in short order after I brought it to their attention).
