Manchester auto barriers
A few weeks ago MAN T3 started getting some auto boarding pass scanners installed at security.
These were in action on Monday, not in fast lane though. They would not work with Ba print at home boarding passes though, and the staff were stating they simply weren't ready.
I didn't see of they had photo takers like in LHR, why would I? Man has never had a photo check for security, I assume there are no intl-intl transfers, otherwise a rather bad slip up on borders.
What was interesting though was the installation of boarding pass scanners at the entrance to the gate 142 pier. Ba regulars will know lhr flights go from 141,142 and very occasionally 143. It seems that there will be new scanners before gate 142, perhaps to do auto face recognition, with all domestic flights moving to that pier?
If Manchester are automatig it, and that's a bit of a reach, will heathrow be following?
