I believe that most companies outsource repairs. I know our Apple repairs are returned from a third party, as our our Lenovo repairs, though in that case the third party is often IBM.
You might want to consider an on-site contact. Most of the top tier companies offer these, and while virtually all the onsite techs are third party contractors the work is done at your home or office if that is a concern. In addition, particularly with Lenovo, if the failure isn't diagnosed as something easily replaced like a drive or memory, the techs frequently come with another chassis and swap memory and storage and you are up and going the next day. Again, all the top tier manufacturers except Apple offer on site.
As others have mentioned Lenovo, Dell, and HP offer options for you to keep your HDD/SSD.
