The OP wanted something that is not a benefit for even diamonds. As a diamond I would never think to ask for a free dinner.
OP had no bad service. And OP was only a gold, far from a HVC for Hilton.
So what? Who cares what the OP does? People can ask and they can get told yes or no. They can have status or not.
The only thing that is mildly interesting about this thread is how many people are offended by what other people do that has nothing to do with their existence and live in fear of their Hilton Permanent Record.
