Don't believe me, give it a try to test it out. Pretty simple test. Put a reservation in the spouses name as primary and see if it post to your account when the spouse's name is on the folio.
This simply isn't true, at least in one particular instance. About 6 times per year, I book a rewards stay for my wife in a particular city that she visits. I do not accompany her and the reservation is booked in her name via the Diamond desk. I have *always* received HHonors credit on my account for her stay and incidental expenses. She has stayed at a number of different Hilton family properties in this city and the result is always the same.
This would be nice if I weren't often staying at another hotel in another city at the same time for a longer revenue stay. Since HHonors gave me points for her stay, they don't credit me for my longer stay at the hotel at which I'm physically present. I have to work with the Diamond desk to get her stay's credit removed from my account and my stay added back. The Diamond desk is always helpful in correcting this unexpected accrual of points for her stay.
