Sukiyabashi Jiro Roppongi might be more to your liking if you wish to try it versus Ginza. The son's restaurant is much more laid back and one of the chefs speaks a little English.
The problem with Ryugin is it's dinner only. On our first trip to Japan - we found ourselves unable to stay up past 9 pm for the first 3-4 days. Really bad jet lag (from the east coast of the US). This trip will be only a week. Perhaps we could do Ryugin at the end of the week - but I'm not entirely sure - and don't want to take a chance - and have to make a lot of explanations/perhaps cancel. Especially since it's a "tough ticket" restaurant (if I can reserve a place for dinner a night or two in advance - when I know we'll be ^^ for dinner - that's ok).

Note that I dined at Per Se within a year of opening. It was fine for New York (although I like Le Bernardin a lot more). Kind of in terms of 3 star Michelin restaurants in a lot of Europe (especially in terms of wine service - which was very amateurish IMO). Robyn
