Wouldn't it be nice if you could really use miles to book the whole flight with ZERO extra dollars? I spent a few years worth of miles to book this flight and it seems really tacky to have to pay cash on top of that, considering I pay an annual fee to use my MileagePlus Explorer card.
You can't upgrade an award ticket (unless you're GS) - you'd need to book the award ticket in the higher cabin.
