The getais usually start in the evening and can be found in large fields around the HDBs. The best bet is perhaps to try and view one in or around Toa Payoh or Ang Mo Kio MRT station. Both neighbourhoods are probably the oldest heartland neighbourhood in Singapore, though Toa Payoh is a little bit dense now.

They are definitely more frequent and commonly seen in the past, and if you can't find them in these neighbourhoods, try out the newer neighbourhoods in the North-east like Punggol or Sengkang which has more open spaces.

Another thing to note is the Hungry Ghost Festival changes with the Lunar Calendar.
