When I ran into issue like this about couple months ago for my sis-in-law and brother from SGN-PHX, I took the 'creative routings'. For you, I just did a quick check, you can route yourself and your wife from SGN to FRA (Frankful, Germany) and from FRA-NYC. PLenty of availability on July 21. Probably have to call it in to get it price out correctly.
