However, if the phone cannot detect your RFID chip, it still does not mean it is faulty as the RF energy required to power up the chip might be larger that what the phone can provide. My US passport has a functioning chip, but my phone cannot detect it at all whilst it can read my wife's passport chip without a problem.
I don't have an android phone, but will ask around. And then try again at LHR next week, I really hope it works this time!
