I fly YYZ>LGA or YYZ>EWR about once a week usually mid-week, often last minute and virtually never have a problem getting a ticket. Sunday's and holiday season can be tough but if you try enough times it can usually be done.

For me anyway I find the $15k to be extremely valuable. Of course you're both right it depends on where you're flying.
