Apparently BA pass the booking through another 3rd party, possibly Avios?
Normally, on a stay that is ineligible for Hilton points (as this one will be) you are still eligible to receive your Hilton status benefits (with certain exceptions for opaque booking sites). As noted, this is well covered in the Hilton forum.
