Check out of LAX and SEA, as those are short hops from SFO and usually are easy to find at low level either on DL or AS. AZ out of LAX routing through FCO is a great product, but requires more connections. They usually release 3 J seats (not sure about Y) for all their flights, but recently everyone has caught on and realized that the new seats are great, so it's tougher to get.

I booked SFO-CDG round trip on AF for a Spain trip last September, but booked it at the 330 day window and before all the issues with AF not releasing inventory to Delta.

After the issues between AF/DL, I was able to get a return flight for this July on CDG-LAX on my way back from Dublin. It is there sometimes, but it's tough to find and typically will get snatched up right away.
