Not necessarily, instead of dragging your luggage with you on the train from HK or Kowloon back to the airport you can check it and check in, in town. Then just ride the train to the terminal, pass through immigration, security and go to your gate.
You will still have to take your luggage with you on the way to HK or Kowloon station from the airport.
The thing is you will have all day Saturday and you might as well enjoy HK a little bit. I don't recall the two airport hotels (Marriott and a Regal) being any cheaper than something in Kowloon.

Seems like you have the flights lined up. Only suggestion would be to sign up for expert flyer so you can get notified when R opens up and book your tickets then.
I actually don't have all day saturday. I arrive on Friday @ HK 7:10PM and flying out of HK on Sat @ 10:30 am. Hence my dilemma, do i really want to stick out a 13hr turnaround at the airport lounge (i have access to the United Lounge at HK as i'm a MileageClub member) or spend $200~250 at the hotel.
Expert fly @ 5.99 per month....i guess i'll pay along....unless someone willing to help??? Any good citizen out there?
