Starwood properties pay 5% SPG participation fee of the revenue for issuing points and administering the program. This SPG participation is in addition to all the other fees that Starwood charges. This was disclosed on the lawsuit between Starwood/SPG and Parker properties.
Properties can decide whether they participate to the other promotions that cost them extra.
Other fees would include commissions on bookings made through Starwood websites and call centers? Does Starwood get the same 10% of the total room cost as travel agents traditionally receive?
