Merge the bookings? No.

Through check bags? Yes.

Provide both OSL-LHR and LHR-HKG boarding passes? Almost certainly.

Protect you if you misconnect? If it's because the OSL-LHR is late, and you therefore miss the LHR-HKG: probably.
