If you are in the new J seats, you won't be at an angle -- and you also be able to talk to your partner easily if you're in adjacent seats. The pods are more private so that even if you're in the middle row with two across you have to roll down the privacy screen and lean back to talk. And be aware that if you sit across the aisles the seat numbers don't align. 1A aligns with 2D etc.
But your are right, it does beat flying in the back, regardless.
I was doing a tat booking on UA, and could not view the seat map. Can I do seat selection on phone with AC?
