Only time I can recall the accent being a bit of a deterrent was when United was first launching their Indian call centers. They had major training issues with that rollout, and it had nothing to do with the Indian people and everything to do with UA.

Flyertalk had extensive threads about the Indian call centers, how to avoid them, etc. I do not believe those threads were rooted in any kind of racism: it was clear that the anger was with United.
