This puts them more in line with the Visa & MC cards issued by the big banks in Canada. But also, this is as strong an indication as any that there is no hope of ever seeing a forex-free Amex issued in Canada. I had hoped that Chase's move to eliminate forex-fees in the Canadian market with their Amazon, Marriott and Sears cards would've had something of a ripple effect, but it turns out that it was not to be. No one else has eliminated forex fees, and it is doubtful that they ever will.

All Chase Canada needs to do is introduce their Ultimate Rewards programme with a Canadian version of Sapphire Preferred, and many of us Amex cardholders would switch.
