WN does have a set formula for paid fare VDB situations - see the "volunteers" section of this FAQ on the website: Overbooking on Southwest.com
My companion and I have VDB'd before (but not on a RR points ticket). The companion ticket was valued at $100, so we ended up getting a $400 voucher for her ($100 ticket value + $300 VDB compensation). Pretty sweet for a ticket we paid $5 for...
