I was insured with them on my trip to Uganda, as I did not travel to the areas under restriction and their caveat is only against matters arising as a result of the situation highlighted by the FCO. You think I just relied on the wording on a the website knowing the problems I was having getting insurance to cover the trip?

If I had travelled to the Murchison Falls area and been caught up by the LRA, then Boots would have declined coverage for anything arising from that.

If I went to Bwandi Impenetrable Forest, tripped over a tree root and broke my ankle, then the insurance would have paid out for medical treatment since that was unconnected with the LRA. Since that was way more likely than the former, I was happy with the insurance cover provided. Uganda is a big country, and the LRA were pretty confined and easily avoidable when I was there.

Of course, I was going to a country where only parts of it were on FCO restriction, not the entire country.

But anyway, I'll accept your gratitude for taking the trouble to try and help you with my previous experience of having done this, finding the link of a major British company which I thought everyone would have heard of, and digging out the details of their insurance for you. I'm sure it just slipped your mind to remember to thank me for the time I spent trying to help, while critiquing that past experience without the full facts!

But you are right - that's the best you'll get a from a UK insurer - that they will not provide coverage for matters arising as a result of the reason for the FCO warning. However if it is just medical insurance you seek, how likely are your medical matters going to arise from a result of the reason for the FCO restriction? It seems you want the sun, the moon and the stars in looking for something that a) covers fully against travel risks to a country where the situation is difficult and potentially dangerous if you are British and b) is to be cheap.
