I agree with you, but there is a problem with that scenario, in Kansas or Kentucky (yes, only those "K" states), the FD staff would probably call the cops on you, for defrauding an innkeeper!
If they did, you wouldn't be held, as you've offered valid payment (not only the GC, but your card on file) and Marriott would have a massive PR disaster on their hands (harassing a customer with no basis). Even in a K state!
